This Wayzu USB-C fast charging cable looks pretty decent on first impressions. The 1m dark grey braided cable feels strong but flexible. The plugs have plastic cases with a brushed metal band and a short rigid plastic strain relief. The unique feature of this cable is the built-in LED display in one of the plugs which shows realtime power delivery in Watts. This is actually really useful as it not only reassures you the device is charging, but gives a status of charging level.
As a charging cable it maxes out at at the claimed 60W when used with a suitable fast charger. Charging a power-bank capable of supporting up to 90W fast charging, this Wayzu cable managed 55W according to the built-in display (the power-bank indicated 53W).
With my MacBook Pro M1 it managed a similar 55 to 56W and for my iPhone 15 Pro Max around 15W.
I also checked the temperature of the cable and plugs when charging at 60W with a thermal imaging camera (see photos). The plugs reach a comfortable 38 deg C whilst the cable was around 30 deg C. Ambient was around 21 deg C.
I did encounter a minor issue when removing one end of the cable from my charger. I gripped it by the metal band which unfortunately came away from the plastic body. It appears to be glued on, so something to be aware of although a drop of glue soon fixed it.
I would not recommend using it as a data transfer cable unless your device only supports USB-2 high speed (480Mb/s). Despite this limitation though the cable is incredibly good value when you consider it supports up to 60W fast charging and has the handy built-in power meter. It would be nice though if it was a bit longer but at this price I can’t complain.
